New England Revolution 5-0 Seattle Sounders

The New England Revolution recorded a resounding 5-0 victory against league-leading Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday night at Gillette Stadium. The Revs are now unbeaten in their last five games, going 4-0-1 since April 12, and enter next week tied for first in the Eastern Conference.

Diego Fagundez scored his first two goals of the season, adding to tallies from rookie Patrick Mullins, Teal Bunbury and a Seattle own goal. The Revs were 4-0 up by halftime and sealed the victory in the first minute of the second half.

New England (5-3-2, 17 pts.) extended its unbeaten streak at Gillette Stadium to seven games (5-0-2), dating back to Sept. 21, 2013. The Revs have yet to allow a goal at home in 2014, pushing its home shutout streak to four matches (3-0-1). The loss snapped Seattle’s (7-3-1, 22 pts.) six-game unbeaten run dating back to April 5.

Seattle remains in first in the race for the Supporters’ Shield. The loss ended Seattle’s five-game winning streak and marked the club’s first road loss this season.
