Landon went…he got comfortable…he played well, really well…and deserves to stay. Major League Soccer will go on without him.

Or maybe it won’t…if there’s a work stoppage, which I will speculate here that it will happen and it will happen right before opening weekend. Nobody wants Landon to come back to the States to play for the Galaxy.

Why?

Because he’s doing what many people knew he could do, which is to compete with the best players in the world, day in and day out. And he’s making us Landon critics eat some of our words and give credit where credit is due.

I am more than willing to give Landon credit, he’s done great and his story at Everton has been one of the biggest U.S. Soccer feel good stories in recent memory (no, Kevin Hartman being picked up by FC Dallas does not trump Landon).  But the bottom line is that if he comes back next week to the Galaxy, everybody will forget he was even over in the EPL for a couple of months.

He does have a contract with the Galaxy, and a great one at that. Bruce says he needs to come back (negotiating ploy)…so Everton needs to step up with a big-ass deal to keep him when the window opens in summer and extend the loan now.

It’s a win-win situation for everyone…most of all the fans. We all want Landon to stay. And if he comes back to the Galaxy we will all be disappointed.

He is supposed to be the best American player EVER. No disrespect to MLS, but that player cannot spend their entire career in MLS. The best player in American soccer history must eventually end up as a starter at Chelsea or Manchester United or Barcelona or Inter.

Landon has had a significant impact on MLS and soccer in the United States…now it’s his time to have an impact on the whole world. He needs to do it…because it’s now or never.

QUESTION: Should Landon stay at Everton or come back to the Galaxy?

  1. He should definitely stay at Everton. It is great for American Soccer and he will be even better for the World Cup
