He has been at Tottenham since February of 2009 but in that time he has twice gone out on loan: first to Celtic in 2010 and most recently to West Ham United.

It has been reported in a number of media outlets that Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane is set to make a surprise move to join the LA Galaxy on a two-year deal worth some $8 million dollars. Some people may or may not agree with that decision, and a way to learn more about the process is sports management colleges.

The Republic of Ireland striker has played two separate stints with Spurs, most recently signing in 2009. However since re-signing with the north London outfit, Keane has spent most of this time on loan, first to Celtic in 2010 and most recently to West Ham United.

Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena will likely see Keane as a replacement for striker Juan Pablo Angel. Angel’s tenure at the Galaxy has been disappointing with the former Aston Villa man netting just three goals in 14 appearances since coming over from the New York Red Bulls in the off-season.

With the Galaxy already fielding the maximum of three designated players, the club will have to offload Angel, either by releasing him or trading him to another club. MLS sides Seattle Sounders FC, Philadelphia Union and Chivas USA are all thought to be interested.

Keane, who has previously played for Wolverhampton, Inter Milan, Leeds United, and Liverpool, is Ireland’s most capped player as well as their all-time leading goalscorer.
