MLS: Los Angeles Galaxy 1-1 Colorado Rapids

LA Galaxy secures a 6th draw in the MLS season in the Western Conference showdown against Colorado. The draw brings a total of 6 wins and 6 draws in the first 12 games at the Stubhub Center in Carson, SoCal. LA Galaxy seats at the 3rd place in the Western Conference standings 4 points clear of Colorado and 7 points from Dallas with two more games to play.

Coach Brubce Arena reatcs after the draw:

“I think our entire team had a good night tonight. The story of the game was we didn’t finish our chances. We could have scored certainly two goals, maybe three or four. I think we played well.

I thought over the course of the night we had a pretty good advantage on set pieces. We were getting our head on a lot of things, Jelle [Van Damme]  had one off the post, and a few others. [The goal] was bound to happen, and that was the one.

We’re maybe an inch away on Jelle’s (Van Damme’s) chance. In the first half. Tim made a real good save on Gyasi, I thought. Don’t tell me that we had more shots, more possession and all of that garbage. It’s 1-1. Just another lesson for you children out there, that the score is the only statistic in this game that means anything.

I thought we had the better chances. Their keeper came up with a couple of good saves, a couple we missed just over the bar, a couple inches wide. I think we probably deserved to get a win out of that, but I’m more disappointed we couldn’t get a shutout.

For me on the night, we played well. We’re at fault for not finishing our chances, and that’s that.”
