TAMPA, FL –
United Soccer Leagues announced today the Second Division Team of the Week honoring Charleston Battery striker Lamar Neagle as Player of the Week for his two-goal performance in his team’s 4-1 win against the Richmond Kickers on Friday, June 11.
The Kickers came into the match having defeated the Battery, 3-1, just six days earlier in Richmond. A win at Blackbaud stadium would have propelled the Kickers within four points of Charleston; instead the Battery are now nine points ahead of Richmond in the standings.

Charleston’s leading scorer this season with eight goals in 12 games, Neagle netted the first goal of the match in just the 10th minute when a free kick from midfield was served to the far post. Midfielder Ian Fuller nodded the ball across the goalmouth where an awaiting Neagle delivered a bicycle kick from eight yards out for a 1-0 lead. Two minutes later, Neagle struck again, this time following a quick counter. Charleston’s Tom Heinemann won the ball in his own half and played a through ball deep into Kickers territory. A failed offside trap left Neagle one on one with Kickers goalkeeper Ronnie Pascale and the striker calmly slotted the ball into the lower right hand corner for a 2-0 lead. The Battery also had defenders Mike Zaher and Colin Falvey named to the USL-2 Team of the Week. This is the fourth time this season that Falvey has been honored. Charleston’s Alioune Gueye also earned a nod for his efforts in midfield. Both Gueye and Zaher have been named to the USL-2 Team of the Week twice this season. As Richmond failed to pick up a point this past weekend, Real Maryland moved to within one point of the Kickers in the standings via a 2-0 win in Charlotte against the Eagles. The Monarchs got a goal in the 29th minute from forward Allen Sanchez that would have been enough for the victory thanks to defender Kenneth Sola and goalkeeper Brian Levey. Second-half substitute Jamie Darvill netted an insurance goal for Real Maryland in the 51st minute to make it 2-0. Levey earned the only clean sheet of the weekend to be named to the Team of the Week while Sola picked up an assist on Sanchez’s goal to earn a nomination for himself. Charlotte remains tied with Real Maryland at 14 points following the loss.

In Pennsylvania’s capital, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg each earned a point in a physical 1-1 draw. The City Islanders had Nick Zimmerman and Geoff Bloes named to the Team of the Week. Zimmerman netted Harrisburg’s only goal of the match while Bloes picked up an assist on the play. On the other side of the ball, Pittsburgh midfielder Travis McKenzie scored the Riverhounds’  lone goal of the game to be named to the Team of the Week.
