Bruce Arena, Landon Donovan and Frankie Hejduk are all on the same club now. Yes, I am licking my chops. I can’t wait for this upcoming MLS season to start. But there is also plenty to talk about in Europe too!

Fans can no longer sit behind the goals at Los Angeles Galaxy games and feel that their lives are safe. Not with Frankie (my cross could hit the Goodyear Blimp) Hejduk roaring down the wings at the Home Depot Center this spring. The veteran defender will launch more than his fair share of errant crosses into bleachers behind the goals and will certainly peg innocent bystanders who would wrongly think that a US international knows how to whip in a decent cross on a consistent basis.

I’m very tired of hearing how tired Landon Donovan is all the time. The kid makes over $2 million a year to play soccer a couple of hours a day. Shut up and get back on the field already. Or try working an honest eight hour day at some point in your life and tell us how fun that is. By the way, tell me what that’s like (working an honest eight hour day) when you do it.

Love seeing AC Milan at the top of the Italian League Table…I don’t think they’ll be able to hold onto it, but with Gattusso being one of my favorite players, they are a must-see every Sunday afternoon.

I’m hosting a Manchester United v Liverpool FA Cup breakfast at my house…are you?

MLS pre-season training is right around the corner and I am looking forward to the Portland vs Seattle match up more than anything. I tried out for the Portland Pride of the old CISL and got cut, because I stunk at indoor soccer, so do hold some allegiance to Portland.

Beckham to Tottenham will happen. Once there’s this much talk, it ALWAYS happens. I think he will do fine…hope that Achilles holds up.

Despite a lot of cynics saying that this is NOT Manchester United’s year…Sir Alex’s boys keep holding onto the top spot. The less Gary Neville plays the better shot they have of winning it all again.

Chelsea needs the Special One back…I think we all see that. They are just missing that…”Special” something. Sorry, I had to do it.

Been reading at the BBC’s Gossip site about a lot of over 35 year olds interested in possibly coming to MLS in their future. Listen, a 32 year old I can live with…but 35 and older is a little too brittle for my tastes, unless they are a goalkeeper.

Clint Dempsey needs to head over to Liverpool to help his boy Roy get his club up a little higher in the table. Despite my love for Craven Cottage, Dempsey has to move to a club that is better. Danny Murphy at center midfielder just isn’t good enough.

My New Year’s Resolution for 2011 is to get fit enough to play organized soccer again.
