S-headquartered multinational sandwich chain Subway has secured its first move into football’s English Premier League through a multi-year partnership with title-challenger Liverpool.

To launch the collaboration, Subway has been sending its range of Low Fat Subs to participants on Liverpool FC Foundation programmes this week as part of a healthy lifestyle drive.

Youngsters on the club’s charitable-arm courses have been exposed to Subway’s “Train Hard and Eat Fresh” mantra.

Liverpool chief commercial officer Billy Hogan said: “We’ve worked closely with the Subway team over the last few weeks and have seen first-hand the value they place on giving back to local communities. We are excited to be joining forces with a global organisation who are just as passionate about making a positive difference to their communities as we are.”

Of Subway’s 1,769 stores in the UK, 31 are in and around the Liverpool area.
