adidas unveiled 2014 FIFA World Cup away uniforms for SpainGermanyArgentina and Russia. Like each country’s home kits that were unveiled in November, the design of the away uniforms are inspired by the history and culture of each country.

adidas’ World Cup jerseys are the lightest the brand has ever created and 40% lighter than previous adidas kits.  Using adizero technology, the new uniforms provide an improved fit, enabling global superstars like Argentina’s Lionel Messi, Spain’s David Villa and Germany’s Bastian Schweinsteiger to player faster and more comfortable on the field.

From a design perspective, the jerseys stand out with country-inspired looks:

  • Spain (#1 ranked team in FIFA Rankings): The defending World Cup champion’s away kit features a never before seen color combination for Spain. The black and neon design was inspired by meaningful features of the cheerful, alive, bustling, social and colorful Spanish culture.
  • Germany (#2 ranked team in FIFA Rankings): The German national team’s away kit incorporates fine lines into the jersey’s horizontal red stripes. The lines symbolize team spirit and teamwork on the field while the jersey overall represents the lifestyle, openness and unconventional attitude of fashion-conscious young people in Germany.
  • Argentina (#3 ranked team in FIFA Rankings): The design combines the tones of blue with the gold from the crest. The gold color that is found throughout the jersey enhances its identity and commemorates the glory of soccer in the country.
  • Russia: Inspired by the achievements of Russian space exploration, the Russian away kit looks like a light blue semicircle, the same perspective seen by Yuri Gagarin when he became the first man in space in 1961.
