Lionel Messi is the FIFA Ballon d’Or 2012 winner. He was elected by the coaches and captains of the national teams of the 209 FIFA Member Associations and a selected group of media. Messi was been elected in front of runner-up Cristiano Ronaldo and Andres Iniesta, who came third.

To celebrate Leo Messi’s unprecedented fourth straight FIFA Ballon d’Or, adidas has launched a congratulatory film, “Cuatro Años Dorado” (Four Golden Years).

  1. Watching Lionel play has been such a pleasure. Unlike many star athletes, Messi values team above himself. The only issue I have with him is he has been performing all this wonderful skill and talent with Barcelona. If he were smart, he would immediately demand a transfer to Portsmouth. (It’s okay to dream, right?)
