It seems as if Theo Walcott is determined to confound any doubt in his footballing attributes with another fantastic performance at Ewood Park. It certainly was not a blistering performance by the former premier league champions, but could be described as workman like. The game was a dogged battle with a resilient  Blackburn outfit, who are well organised under Big Sam.

Walcott (photo) opened the scoring on 19 minutes with a fantastic run and finish, firing across Robinson in the Rovers goal to go 0-1 up. Blackburn kicked off as expected fired up and shortly made it 1-1 through Mame Diouf. Both sides then battled until half time. Arsenal started the second half strongest and got their rewards as Arshavin scored what was to the winning goal on 51 minutes. Blackburn plugged away but could not break down Arsenal solid defense.

Well well who would have thought on the viewing of Arsenal last season, that the Gunners would hold out on such a slim win. Maybe my fear of last season has somehow been diminished. How do I mean? Arsenal last season under Wenger seemed to be lacking the want and desire to win against weaker opposition. It was like the younger players had no desire. Yet holding out against a physical, determined Blackburn outfit seemed easy to the young Arsenal team. Lets see how the season continues for the gunners and if their young stars can keep up the good, solid start.
