How does it feel to finally come away from Old Trafford with a victory?
I’ve been here five-and-a-half years and it’s my first time getting a result here as well, and my first time scoring against them. It’s a great time to open my account and the importance of the game made it even more special. We’re all happy about getting the points.

How pleased with you to go in at half-time 2-0 ahead?
I only think Brad had to make one save. I thought we played some great football, created some good chances and got a result by scoring two goals. In the second half United were a different team, they had players getting into pockets, getting on the half-turn, got closer to our midfield, guys getting on good angles and when you give them time, they were pinging the ball out wide and getting that width and getting crosses in. It was difficult for us. We did a lot of running and when you are doing that, you are not keeping the ball, it makes it even more difficult to try to keep possession. But we ground out the result, the guys showed a lot of character and we’re happy about the result.

What was the atmosphere like in the dressing room after the game?
Everyone was excited. We’ve been playing a lot of games, so it’s good we’ve got the results we have in the last few fixtures. Hopefully we can keep moving forward. Everyone is starting to hit their stride, the team is getting stronger, we have a lot of depth and we want to do well in every competition we’re in, the league, the Europa League and Capital One Cup. We’re happy with the way things are going.

Do you think these three points send a message out to the rest of the Premier League?
Yes, and it puts us back up the table, where we should be. In the first half we played some really good football and in the second half, you can’t get away from it that we weren’t at our best but still ground out a result.
How tense were those last few minutes?
I was on the bench and I was just praying, hoping we could see it out. The boys worked hard, got into it, blocked shots and worked hard for it. I think we deserved the win and hopefully we can move forward and continue to play good football.
