Socceroos defender, Matt McKay, has revealed he has already had interest from clubs both in the A-League and abroad after prematurely ending his time in China.

The 30-year-old is a free agent after cutting short his time with Chinese Super League outfit Changchun Yatai just six months into a two-year deal, alerting a number of A-League sides to a possible move for experienced and versatile player.

McKay has been heavily linked in the soccer betting to a return to Brisbane, the side he captained to its first championship in 2010/11, but there is also reported interest in the Aussie star from a number of clubs in the Middle East.

A move back to the A-League would certainly be a boost to the league, but a lot will depend on whether or not the lucrative Asian market tempts McKay back despite his unsuccessful spell in China.

With the World Cup now less than a year away, McKay knows he needs to move to a club that is going to enhance his hopes of being a key part of Socceroos’ head coach Holger Osieck’s plans in Brazil, in a side that will head into the event as outsiders, according to fans who bet on soccer.

McKay has revealed he already has a number of offers on the table and would now be weighing them up and coming to a decision over where next to take his career.

“I didn’t want to think about my club stuff during this tournament but now it’s sorted I’m going to head back to China now and pack up my things and head back to Australia and decide my future,” he said.

“I’ve already got a bit of interest so I’ll wait and make the right choice for myself. I want to play for the national team. I want to go to the World Cup so the decision will be based on that. My future will sort itself out, I’m not worried about that. I’ll find a good club and I’ll play and I’ll enjoy my football again.”
