Manchester City win League Cup

Man City 3-0 Arsenal. The London never existed in this match probably did not have the firepower to compete against City. Let’s be clear Arsenal are longer studs in Premier League and its hard to believe how Wenger can still be in charge.

Another lost season

Wenger comments but his came out flat:

“I felt we were unlucky to be 1-0 down at half time, we made a defensive mistake and missed an unbelievable chance at 0-0 so it was frustrating.

In these types of games, playing against a side of that calibre, to be 1-0 down is difficult.

When we came out, we didn’t start the second half well and were a bit unlucky because for me the second goal was 100 per cent offside and then it was difficult. We tried to come back, to change the system, but it was very difficult.

[The second goal] was a changing point in the game and after that they were in control. They were nervous in the first half and overall I think the second goal played a big part in the final result.

We had the chances and I am very disappointed but it made me think about playing Barcelona in Paris [in 2006] when we missed the chance in the first half. Against a team of that quality it is important to take your chances straight away.”

Coach Manchester City Guardiola relishes the win:

“It was so important we won this after going out of the FA Cup. It’s a pity because we played 45 minutes against Wigan with 10 against 11 and we played good, but unfortunately couldn’t go through.

“Now we have to focus absolutely on the Premier League and trying to win the games we need to win the title and try and progress to the Champions League quarter-final.

“This win is not for me, it’s for Manchester City. The next games I think he will be out. We will see on Monday the extent of the injury but it’s a big, big loss for us.”
