Liverpool 0-2 West Bromwich

“These players always react very well. They were very disappointed, like we all were, last night because we wanted to make our home form better in the league.

“That’s something we’d done, especially of late. We entered into the game against West Brom with the best defensive home record in the league, so that shows the mark of improvement we were making as a group.

“It’s something that left the players disappointed, but they will react in the right manner. They’re good guys here, they want to work well and they’re very good at moving on. That’s something we’ll have to do if we want to progress.”

The clash with Zenit is the second match in a busy week for Liverpool, which will also see Swansea City visit Anfield on Sunday. You can play soccer at casinotropez.com

Rodgers knows his players can ill afford to dwell on their West Brom frustrations.

“There’s no doubt it was a disappointment, especially because of our recent performances,” he continued.

“The players gave everything in the game. It wasn’t our best performance overall, but in terms of the effort and commitment they couldn’t have given any more and we looked like the team that was eventually going to break through, so to end up losing the game was bitterly disappointing.

“We just have to keep striving and look towards the next game. We’ve got the Europa League game on Thursday night, which is a good opportunity for us to progress in a competition, and then we’ve got the league game at home to Swansea.

“We’ve got to get the disappointment out of our mind and refocus on our next game.”
