Ligue 1: AS Monaco 0-0 Paris Saint-Germain

Just a few days after the astonishing away win at Arsenal 3-1, Monaco was not able to find the net in a very closed game. PSG who will look to qualify for the third straight UEFA Champions League quarterfinal, when they visit London and Chelsea next, still ranks second one point behind Olympique Lyonnais.

Post game reaction from Paris side:

Laurent Blanc (Paris Saint-Germain coach):
“We played quite well. But in football, you have to take your chances to score goals. We are working on it, but I hope we continue to create as many chances in the future. I can see that of the top three teams, only Paris picked up a point this weekend. Given the way we played, a point isn’t enough, but the work we did this week will hold us in good stead in the future.”

Blaise Matuidi (Paris Saint-Germain midfielder):
“We lacked the finishing touch, we didn’t put the ball away and we’re disappointed, but we have to stay positive. We carved out a lot of good opportunities to score, and conceded very few, which means we were well organised.”

Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain defender):
“We came here to win, we had the chances to win, but we weren’t able to get the result. Now, we have to focus on Wednesday’s game. Monaco defended very well tonight. We have had a lot of chances to top the table, but we’re still not there this evening.”

Javier Pastore (Paris Saint-Germain midfielder):
“We had a lot of scoring chances, but we remain in second place and it’s a shame. We played some really good football tonight, but we didn’t score the goals to go with it. We need to be more focused in front of goal to win.”
