Serie A Calcio: AC Milan 0-2 Juventus

Argentinian Gonzalo Higuain scored twice as Juventus put AC Milan in a very difficult situation. The club form Milan fizzle in Serie A after spending a huge amount of money over the summer transfer window. AC Milan’s woes could soon be to much for coach Montella. The month of October has been catastrophic and the club stagnates in at the 8th rank in the table. This is far from the objectives claimed at season start.

The goleador Higuain shares his views on the big win for Juve to stay in contact with the leader Napoli:

“I’m delighted with the win because we all worked our socks off for it. That was how we needed to win this game. We’re a great team and when we play like that it’s hard for us to lose. These goals are for the people who have always backed me, not only when everything is rosy: my team-mates, the fans and my family. I never reply to criticism. All I’m interested in is doing my bit to help the team.

There’s obviously still a long way to go this season, but we’re looking to be in the Scudetto race till the end. Hopefully we can go all the way and win it again.”

Coach Allegri on the win and joining Napoli on top of the table:

“I’m very happy with the lads today because we needed to produce a real show of strength to beat a historic rival like AC Milan. The lads did their jobs at both ends of the pitch and we’ve come away from a head-to-head match with a fine victory that sets us up nicely for our Champions League game on Tuesday.”

We didn’t control the game in the first half because AC Milan were pressing us and we kept passing it around at close quarters instead of looking to get the ball forward. We sorted ourselves out in the second half and managed possession better. I was very angry with [Miralem] Pjanic because a player of his ability shouldn’t be playing it short. We need to do better on the ball so that we come under less pressure.”

On Gonzalo Higuain’s brace:

“He mustn’t rest on his laurels now. He’s in good physical shape and has improved loads. From a technical point of view he’s exceptionally gifted: he opens up the play and he’s scoring again now but it’s not enough for him to stay at this level – he must do even better.

He showed fabulous technique to take his two goals today but he has to be a lot more demanding of himself because I think he sits back occasionally. That’s what I expect of him after tonight.”
