How are you feeling Arsenal fans? After last summers optimism how gutted are you to finish another seasons campaign trophy less! I have to admit I was hoping for more than a Carling cup final loss to and 4th place in the EPL. Lets be honest with ourselves even a Carling cup victory wouldn’t be much to cheer about. Winning the carling cup is like winning an egg and spoon race in comparison to the champions league which is like winning the 100m sprint olympic gold.

Where did it all go wrong? Well I did say Arsenal would win nothing unless they invested in some quality. Did they? Not at all. Arsenal were severely lacking in all departments this season and were incredibly short of backup quality. Alumunia is a shocking goalkeeper. Lukasz Fabianski is stupidly inconsistent and Szczesny still far too inexperienced to hold the fort for the gunners.

At the back any gunner fan would have no choice but laugh a the incredulity of the many different defensive partnerships that Arsenal accumulated over the season. What was amazing that not one partnership worked! Vermaelen can ne excused as he was injures the majority of the season. Sagna was good most of the season however still needs to work on his forward play. Clichy on the opposite flank was good as well and as consistent as any player all season however with his speed and footwork should offer a more attacking threat. All Arsenals centre backs though were a joke! Not one player could put 2 games back to back without a mistake. Squillaci was okay and had a good start but then faded come the end of the season. Djourou looked like my Grandma defending. Eboue is just horrible to watch when he plays in defence of midfield and Koscielny looks far too average to play in the EPL.

The midfield faired better. Fabregas had a good start and led well despite rumours of being Barca bound, however he was another Gunner to lose his way at the business end of the season with poor performances at the end. Nasri was outstanding for 3 quarters of the season and was clearly playing his best football for the Gunners. Unfortunately he lost his way come the end of the season too, but bravo the frenchman in his best season for Arsenal. Walcott was better and offered a good attacking threat. Possibly his best season for Arsenal. Song was fantastic until he returned from the African cup of nations. Diaby is hit or miss. Rosicky is a waste of a squad number who cannot string 2 passes together. Denilson: what does he actually do?! Arshavin seemed lost this season, and Wilshere quite outstanding! What a talent, what a season and simply Arsenals player of the season!

The forward line had mixed seasons too! Van Persie was brilliant but unfortunately injury prone, however offered much up front when fit. Vela wasn’t given the opportunity to shine. Chamakh was fantastic at the start of the season but like so many Arsenal players faded come Xmas. Bendtner is like watching a donkey kick a ball around a field. Saying his name is like a swearword.

Wenger what’s his next move? Well we have already discussed how many players underperformed this season. Get rid of them and reduce the wage bill. After you have done that Wenger had already hinted that he will spend in the summer! At last just 5 years too late. This may be Wengers last season to get it right or I can see the potential new owners appointing a new man. A disappointing season for gunners fans. However the future is bright. Gunners fans still have Champions league football to look forward too and the possibility of new signings. Keep the faith Arsenal fans. Who would you like to see gracing the hallowed turf at the Emirates?
