Ligue 1 week 12: PSG in control

Ligue 1’s top four demolished opponents over the weekend with each team scoring at least 5 goals, a feast which just happened for the first time in 40 years. Here are the games. Several Ligue 1 predictions we’re able to see some big results coming up. However, this surpassed everyone’s expectations.

Angers 0-5 Paris Saint-Germain.

Edison Cavani scored his 100th and 101st goals for PSG and will soon pass Zlatan Ibrahimovic for most goals in club’s history.

PSG coach Emery on the win:
“I’m very happy with the team’s performance this evening. We talked about it this morning and in the dressing room with the players: we wanted to win away from home, show our superiority with style.

We did that, started strongly and kept it up throughout. Cavani? His stats are sensational, but he also helps the team a lot. In Uruguay, Italy and of course here in Paris, he has always produced, he’s a real competitor. He tries to improve in each game, he fights for the team.”

Monaco 6-0 Guingamp

Monaco is second in the table and four points behind PSG. The reds and whites have had a tremendous run so far and despite the adversity in the Champions League with no wins in four games. They look to be the only team enable to compete with PSG in the long run.

Coach Jardim comments on the rout:

“We said we had to make a strong first half, the players did it in order to manage during the second half. I’m happy with that. The most important thing is to play well each time. After 12 matches, Paris is above competition. Behind, there are good teams. We maintain the level. But I do not think about Paris now (on November 26th). We are four points behind”.

Saint-Etienne 0-5 Lyon

Lyon demolished its neighbor in the derby for a massive win.

Coach Genesio commented on the win:

“We are very proud. It’s like in a dream. Today we made history of the club with this win. We managed to score on our first outing. I liked it because we saw a team in confidence.

We did the work until the end by scoring five goals. All the forwards scored and played with each other. We have a new marathon of ten matches starting after the international break so we have to recover well”.

Marseille 5-0 Caen

Olympique Marseille alternate between good and bad performances. After a pale performance in Europa League (loss 1-0 at Guimaraes) and Marseille defender Patrice Evra sending a high kick to one of his supporter, Marseille responded with a rout to Caen and sit now a point behind the podium.
