Dwight Yorke’s former teammate at Sydney FC Terry McFylnn is backing the former Manchester United marksman to get the job as head coach of Australian A-League club Melbourne Victory.

Yorke has been recently linked to the job and according to reports in the UK Press, is currently part of the Manchester United coaching staff. He holds a UEFA B License but will need an A License either through UEFA or the Asian Confederation in order to coach in the A League. Word is he may be given extra time to complete the course.

“Dwight would make a fantastic coach. He played at the top level for so many years and he is a great student of the game,” McFlynn said.

“His knowledge is immense and he is a leader on and off the field. He leads by example and I have no doubt he’d be a huge success as a coach.”

Yorke was also an assistant coach at Sunderland in the English Premiership and also served as an assistant with the Trinidad and Tobago national team during the 2010 World Cup qualifiers under ex-head coach Russell Latapy.
