Although Everton have been bolstered by the arrival of LA Galaxy forward Landon Donovan on a temporary loan deal, David Moyes is apparently looking to further increase his attacking options by granting a tryout to Donovan’s former teammate Edson Buddle.

Buddle, who represented his country at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, left the Galaxy last year to join FC Ingolstadt. The former MLS striker scored in his debut game for the the second division German side and has notched a total of nine goals since making his move to Europe.

The striker had an impressive tally during his time with the current MLS champions, scoring a total of 42 times in 87 appearances. Prior to joining the Galaxy, Buddle had bounced around the MLS for several years, enjoying short stints with the Columbus Crew, the New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC.

The 30-year-old is represented by Richard Motzkin, the same agent as Donovan and Everton keeper Tim Howard. Motzkin confirmed the report on Twitter, stating that: “For those asking, my client Edson Buddle will be on trial this week with Everton F.C.

Everton currently sit in 11th place in the English Premier League. With striker Tim Cahill in the midst of a 13-month drought, the Merseyside outfit have been woefully short on goals this season with 21 total scored against 25 conceded.

Buddle last appeared for the USA in November of 2011 when he scored the decider in a 1-0 friendly win over Slovenia.
