Harry Redknapp is likely to be chosen as the replacement of Fabio Capello as the England boss but the FA insist they will choose the coaching staff the new coach will be in charge of

Harry Redknapp, manager of Tottenham Hotspur, ...

On Wednesday, Redknapp was cleared of tax evasion charges just two hours before Capello resigned as England manager.

The Italian disagreed with FA’s decision to axe Chelsea’s John Terry as England captain on charges of apparent racial abuse of QPR defender Anton Ferdinand. It seemed improbable that the FA would decide to fire Capello just over three months before Euro 2012  and their decision to let him go came as a major surprise.

The FA announced: “The discussions focused on the FA Board’s decision to remove the England team captaincy from John Terry, and Fabio Capello’s response through an Italian broadcast interview.

“In a meeting for over an hour, Fabio’s resignation was accepted and he will leave the post ofEnglandManager with immediate effect. … We would like to thank Fabio for his work with the England team and wish him every success in the future.”

The FA are likely to announce Redknapp as new boss of the national side. The FA have decided they are going to choose the coaching staff the current Spurs manager is going to lead.

Stuart Pearce, the manager of the England national Under-21 team, will manage the England side for their friendly against Holland on February 29. He will also be part of the coaching team under Capello’s full-time successor.

No matter who it is, England’s new boss will have to accept the terms proposed by the FA.
