Saints Confident for Emirates Trip

Having made his international debut for England against Chile last week, Southampton captain, Adam Lallana, is on a high going into the Saints game against Arsenal and he sees no reason why they cannot continue their fine run of form.

Southampton have been the Premier League’s surprise package this season and will go into Saturday’s game unbeaten since August in the league – a run that has seen them rise into the Champions League places.

Regardless of what the Manchester clubs and Chelsea might think, this is a big game and, as Lallana was keen to point out, it could have a significant bearing on how the rest of the season pans out. “It’s a massive game – top versus third,” the man from St Albans said.

Before their last league game against Manchester United, Arsenal were enjoying a similarly successful run to Lallana’s men, having remained unbeaten since the first game of the season, and they will desperate to restate their title credentials on Saturday.

A win over Southampton would certainly allay some of the fears raised by the 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford but Lallana is sure that Arsenal will not have things all their own way and he knows what his side are capable of on the big stage.

“We have got results at Old Trafford and Anfield so why can’t we go there and get a result?” the 25 year old said. “The lads will be full of confidence and I am really looking forward to it.”

Fans of football betting can expect a tight contest on Saturday, as the league’s second most potent attackers host the meanest defence.

With Southampton conceding less than 0.5 goals per game on average and the Gunners netting twice, this is a particularly hard game to call. Those punters looking for good value in the line betting markets could do worse than to take a chance on the wheels coming off Southampton’s season and back them with a two-goal start.
