Lescott Set for City Exit

Joleon Lescott has admitted he is preparing to leave Manchester City at the end of the season, opening the door for a possible move abroad at the end of the season and supporting recent reports on the bet365 website linking the England international with a move to the MLS.

The centre-back is nearing the end of his contract at the Etihad Stadium and City have made it fairly evident that Lescott will be allowed to leave the club when his deal expires in the summer. Lescott has been an important part of City’s defence for much of his time at the Etihad since his arrival from Everton in 2009, although the defender has found his chances limited since the arrival of Manuel Pellegrini last year.

While the likes of Newcastle, West Ham and Fulham were all believed to be interested in signing the 31-year old in January, City were not keen on losing Lescott at a time when their defensive ranks were depleted through injury. Depending on what league those three clubs are playing in next season, all have been tipped by the Premier League betting odds on bet365.com to be in the running to signing the defender in the summer.

Lescott has admitted, though, that while he is sure he will leave City in the summer, it won’t necessarily be for another Premier League team, revealing he could be tempted to leave England and sample life in a different league.

“I know my contract won’t be renewed, so every performance I’ve put in this season has been like being in the shop window.”

“Hopefully someone is watching and wants to sign me. I wouldn’t rule out a move a move abroad. I need to weigh up my options and see what is best for me and my family.”
