Hernandez happy to swap goals for medals

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez says he would happily swap all of his goals to ensure the Red Devils regained the title, after missing out to bitter rivals Manchester City last season.

Roberto Mancini’s men claimed their first championship since 1968 thanks to a last gasp strike from Sergio Aguero to break United hearts following their final day win at Sunderland.

The Red Devils had held the advantage in the title race going into the final few weeks of the season but a 4-4 draw at home to Everton, combined with their 1-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium allowed their great rivals to pip them to the post.

This added further insult to injury for the Mexican, who after bursting onto the Old Trafford scene during his first year in England, failed to rediscovered his form last term and often found himself down the pecking order behind Danny Welbeck.

The 24-year-old was understandably disappointed not to repeat the heights of his maiden season but admits he’d swap every goal he scores to ensure that United reclaim the Barclays Premier League title in the upcoming campaign.

“It’s more about doing my best for the team – if the goals come then great, but if someone else scores instead of me then it’s still great for the United fans and for the club,” he said. “You can never play one man against 11, and one player can never score all the goals by himself.

“I think we all learned a lot from last season and we’re confident we can come back this season.”

“If the goals are coming then good, but as I’ve always said, I would swap every one of my goals for a title with Manchester United,” he added.

After a relatively quiet summer to date for both clubs, the online betting  is struggling to separate the two when it comes to title glory, with Chelsea the only other side considered string enough to mount a sustained premier League charge.
