Gunners Keep On Firing

Goals from Nicklas Bendtner and Mesut Ozil ensured that Arsenal remain four points clear at the top of the Premier League table in a 2-0 victory over Hull.

Bendtner’s header in just the second minute of the game was his first goal for the club since March 2011 as he got the Gunners off to a perfect start against the Steve Bruce’s side.

Arsenal’s German midfielder Ozil doubled their lead just after the interval when he was on the end of Aaron Ramsey’s well timed pass to make sure of the Gunners’ sixth win in seven games.

Arsene Wenger chose to rest some of his regular stars including Frechman Olivier Giroud and Jack Wilshere.

Hull were starved of possession at the Emirates as they were unable to match their result in North London in 2008 where they beat Arsenal 2-1 in one of the shock results of that season. Their best chance of the match yesterday fell to Jake Livermore who could only fire his shot straight at Wojciech Szczesny in the hosts’ goal.

Bet365 pundits felt that the visitors were fortunate not to fall further behind before half-time as Bendtner was unable to take advantage when Allan McGregor spilled an Ozil shot. The Dane’s first touch let him down on this occasion, but he did receive a warm reception from the home fans for his performance when taken off in the second half for Theo Walcott.

Arsenal are still second favourites to win the Premier League title this season as they are 9/4 with bet365. The Gunners have not won the trophy since 2004 but now have only Manchester City ahead of them in the betting at 6/4.
Arsene Wenger’s side will host Everton next on Sunday before games against Manchester City and Chelsea during the Christmas schedule.
