Fergie Targets Reinforcements

Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, has admitted that he will be looking to further strengthen the squad in the summer transfer market, as the Red Devils hope to regain the Premier League title, next term.

United came so close to securing their 20th league title, but they were denied in practically the last kick of the season by their noisy neighbours, Manchester City.

Having come so close to beating the Premier League’s big spenders to the title, United have already begun the process of making sure they are not second best next season.

Ferguson has already completed deals for midfielders, Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell, who will bolster an area of the pitch that was found wanting last term, with the then-retired Paul Scholes being called upon to fill the void in the middle of the park.

The experienced Scottish tactician is determined for his side not to be left behind City, who will once again be looking to make moves for some of Europe’s top players, this summer.

Ferguson has revealed that the club are still looking to bring a few more targets to Old Trafford, as the Premier League season is set to begin next month.

He told MUTV: “We always try to get our work done at the end of the season – we spent a good deal of time sorting the deal with Shinji, and we’d agreed a deal with Nick Powell before the play-offs, which was a good move by us because the boy had an outstanding final at Wembley.

“When you don’t get deals done immediately, and you’re negotiating with a club over a long period, then you can’t expect to just snap your fingers and get it done.”

United get their Premier League campaign underway on August 18, when they make the short trip to Goodison Park to take on Everton. The football betting with Bet Victor is predicting a relatively smooth start to the Red Devil’s 2012/13 campaign.
