A different Mourinho returns to Chelsea

Having been unveiled for the second time as the new manager of Chelsea, Jose Mourinho has admitted he is a different man to the one who walked through the doors back in 2004.

Nine years ago a brash Portuguese manager walked into Stamford Bridge and declared himself ‘The Special One’, having just guided Porto to Champions League glory.

From that moment, everyone new Mourinho would have a big impact on the game in England and having enjoyed successful yet mixed spells with Inter Milan and Real Madrid, the Special One is back in the Premier League.

However the 50-year-old has admitted he is not the same as the man who took charge in June 2004 but he still has the same drive and hunger to succeed, which has made him a success wherever he has been, even with a turbulent time at Real in his last job.

Mourinho said: “I am ‘The Happy One’. I am very happy. If I have to describe myself, I would describe myself as a very happy person because it’s the first time I arrive in a club where I already love the club. I think I’m back because we are in the best moments of our careers and ready to work together again.”

Chelsea have been a club that has had plenty of instability over recent campaigns, with managers and incidents on and off the field.

Bringing back a fans’ favourite like Mourinho on a four-year deal will bring some much needed discipline and continuity back to a side which have the all the makings of being Premier League champions once again – if the latest football odds are to be believed.

Chelsea are a 5/2 football bet for next season’s title.
