Roy Hodgson – England National Team coach:

“It wasn’t one of our better performances but the good thing is that we did get a result from the game and we did show the necessary character.

“It gives me great heart for the future that we are still unbeaten after 11 games and we are still capable that when things aren’t going great for us to get something out of the game, and that’s what we’ve done today.

“I don’t think that was one of our better performances if I’m to be honest. The players are disappointed but I think there are lots of factors that need to be taken into consideration.

“It was quite difficult here, it was a soggy pitch, the ball wasn’t moving that well. It was a pitch more suited to a long ball game than a passing game.

“And the extra 36 hours or so we’ve been spent in a hotel waiting to play the game didn’t do us any favours either.

“Having said that, I’m pleased with a point because I don’t think we played well enough today to get the three points.

“When the group is decided next October, we might find that this point away from home tonight is the important point that takes us through.”
