What a sweet performance by the Gunners! Arsenal were simply brilliant on Sunday afternoon, blowing away fellow title challengers 0-3 at Eastlands. The game was billed in the press as a possible midfield battle involving Arsenals Fabregas and Song (photo) and City’s De Jong and Yaya Toure. This certainly didn’t happen! After only 4 minutes Boyata was sent off for a professional foul, bringing down Chamakh just outside the box, leaving Yaya Toure at right back. Arsenal had to show patience and resolve to counter the hard tackling nature of the game.

I think all watching the game would have agreed it looked more likely than not that the Gunners would join City on ten men. But Arsenal stuck at the task at hand and continued to play their stylish passing football and got the breakthrough on 20 minutes with Nasri slotting home. Super Spaniard Fabregas missed a pen from his own foul and gave city some hope. The game had a fine balance even after the half time break until Song made the task near impossible making it 0-2. Arsenal played city around for the remainder of the game when sub Bendtner placed the ball into city net on 88 minutes to make it 0-3.

I imagine all Arsenal fans must be happy as they went to work this morning. It was a vintage performance from the gunners at Eastlands. There was no doubting Arsenals task was made a little easier with Boyata sending off, but how many teams rally and play better with ten men then eleven! Arsenal stuck to the task at hand at quietly broke down city’s resilience. Everyone played together as a unit and no player in my opinion should be signalled out as an individual. Keep this up Arsenal and maybe the title could be yours.
