Earlier this year the Mali international striker was arrested for drunk-driving but after scoring 34 goals last season he’s become hot property
SC Freiburg has confirmed it has signed Mali striker Garra Dembele from Bulgarian club Levski Sofia.
The 25-year-old Mali international scored 34 goals in 36 goals for Levski during the 2010-11 season prompting widespread interest.

Freiburg’s head of communications Rudi Raschke told BBC Sport the German club had won the race to sign Dembele for €2m.

“Dembele will join up with the team and start training on Monday,” said Raschke.

The French-born striker had previously had a number of problems following a string of drunk-driving offences.

In December last year, Dembele was arrested in the Bulgarian capital for drunk-driving and received an eight-month suspended sentence and a three-year probation period.

Dembele, who has previously spent time with clubs in France, Denmark and Greece, is seen as a potential replacement for highly-rated Papiss Demba Cisse who is being chased by several top clubs.
