Arsenal still fighting for the EPL

A trip to Bloomfield road is never an easy one and Arsenal could have been forgiven for wishing for a home game. Arsenal have again seemed flustered in recent games as the final games of the season have counted down. Manchester United in contrast have seemed ordered and unflustered, another reason I can’t see the Gunners winning a title.

The game at Blackpool started at a fairly fast pace with both sides striding forward looking for the opening goal. The attention was still firmly fixed on the return of Jens Lehmann in goal. However with the Gunners first shot on target was a goal. Van persie played the ball into the path of Diaby who smashed the ball into the net. 0-1 to Arsenal. Only 3 minutes later Wilshere played a sweet pass to Eboue who empathetically finished firing the ball past Kingson. Blackpool had little to offer and the Gunners looked in control.

The second half did not start well for Arsenal with Puncheon playing a nice through ball with DJ Campbell being brought down in the penalty area, however the referee allowed play to continue and Taylor-Fletcher slotted the ball home. 1-2. However as Blackpool pressed forward, Arsenal were getting more chances to break and finish off the game. The game was finished off on 75 minutes when substitute Walcott was played through on the right wing leaving the pacy winger to pass the ball into the path of Van Persie to finish the game.

Wenger recently expressed in the press that he would be content with second place behind Manchester United. Would Gunners fans be happy with that? I don’t think so. 5 years without a trophy is not good enough. The title is going to Manchester and despite this win Arsenal have little chance of stopping that.
