AC Milan Smashes Brescia as Run Goes On

Allegri’s men are just too strong for bottom dwellers. They beat Brescia 3-0 in very convincing fashion to retain the three point lead on the top of the table. Zlatan Ibrahimovic showed another incredible performance, assisting for the first and scoring the third goal with magical movements. Robinho (photo) added his name on the score sheet hitting the second once.

Everyone expected Rossoneri to win, but the way they did it was too much to predict. They scored three goals in first half hour, before they led the game to a peaceful and not entertaining end.

Kevin-Prince Boateng opened the result with a close range kick, doing the easier job after Ibra’s wonderful action. It was only the third minute, but victory was already on the rise. Brescia had an equalizing chance soon, but Andrea Caracciolo’s shot was stopped by Christian Abbiati.

Perparim Hatemaj was the creator of this chance, but he also created the one that led to extending the Milan’s lead. In 27th minute he tried to return the ball to the defense, he did it awful and Robinho just collected it to calmly and hit the net for 2-0.

Three minutes later Rossoneri got the job done. Ibrahimovic humiliated Brescia defense and almost broke the net with fierce shot. It was already clear that the three points are not going away from San Siro.

Rondonelle defenders offered Boateng another chance thanks to a horrible backpass, but the Ghanaian international attempt was denied by goalkeeper Matteo Sereni, who denied Robinho’s shot in the same action as well. He was the away side’s hero in the first half, saving Andrea Pirlo’s low free kick, top.

The second half wasn’t so interesting to watch, as Allegri’s men used it to rest a little. Robinho and Gennaro Gattuso came with opportunities to score, but unsuccessful, however. Ibrahimovic was substituted in 70th minute by Ronaldinho, who almost scored with his first touch. Until the end of the game absolutely nothing happened. Rossoneri kept the ball in possession without any effort for serious attack.

Now Milan find themselves on the top with three points ahead of Lazio and huge ten ahead of reigning champions Inter, after their defeat in Rome against Aquile.

Brescia coach Giuseppe Iachini lamented defensive errors. “Unfortunately a defensive error cost us dear. Being two goals down so early into the game it really was an uphill struggle. Against a team of Milan’s calibre you have to be perfect to come away with something,” he told the prez.

Unlike him Massimiliano Allegri couldn’t be more satisfied. He hailed the team’s professionalism on the match: “It was an important display tonight. The whole squad is coming together nicely and are all showing great dedication to the cause. Everyone wants to do well and the results are coming as a consequence,” he said. “The most important thing was winning and we did that with a professional performance. We weren’t concerned about the standings and will continue to think solely about our duty as we look to remain atop in the coming weeks.” However, he played down Scudetto talks once again, claiming that there’s still a lot to be done. “It is a very competitive championship this season and for sure with 33 points we won’t win much. There is still much work to do and we must continue on this path without worrying about our rivals,” he stated.

Milan travels to another easy-on-paper game next round, against Bologna. Having in mind that Lazio travels in Turin to play with third placed Juventus, that’s perfect opportunity for now-hot-Scudetto-favorites to extend the lead. Whether Allegri wants to say it loud or not.
