The 2010 World Cup champions, 2008 and 2012 Euro championship champions Spain has been evicted of the World Cup after two defeats for their first two games of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. A ridiculous way out conceding 7 goals and scoring only 1.

Reactions from the pitch

Spain Coach Del Bosque

I thought we came here in good shape and the problem would be which were the best eleven players to field. But things did not turn out as we expected. “We were inferior to both the Netherlands and Chile,”

“We have players and a federation who are very consolidated, we are not falling apart. We will take the time to do what is best for Spanish football, and I include myself there. “We must not make snap decisions on the basis of what has happened here. We played two games and were not able to overcome our rivals, Netherlands and Chile were better than us on the day.”

“Now is not the time to think about the team’s future or mine. There’ll be plenty of time for that, but not right now”.

Netherlands and Chile advance, will play first place in Sao Paolo

Netherlands has had the most difficulties to beat a brilliant and fighting Australia side 3-2 where Chile outplayed Spain 2-0.

Robben reacts ahead of Chile-Netherlands match:

We have taken a big step forward. We have six points, which is the maximum we could have taken. Now we have one more group game and we want to play well.”

Chile midfielder Vidal:

“The Netherlands are a strong team who have won their two matches, but we hope, like Wednesday, to get the three points. It’s a World Cup. You can come up against anyone. The important thing is to keep playing well and if we can do that, we can go very far.”
